Testimonials

Catherine Brown, DNP
UAB Neurology

I am not sure how I ever did my job without Suki. My notes are more comprehensive and my time with patients is more personal. I have essentially eliminated pajama time!

Thomas Chi, M.D.
UAB Urology

Suki lets me focus on being present with patients, knowing the note is handled accurately and reliably in the background. It has significantly improved my quality of life by reducing after-hours documentation and allowing me to focus on patient care.

James Colvard, D.O.
UAB St. Vincent’s Family Medicine

I’m saving at least 30 minutes a day. More importantly, it’s reduced the mental load of figuring out wording. I prep the chart, talk to the patient, quickly review the note, and copy/paste. The reduced cognitive stress has been a game-changer.

Erin Delaney, M.D.
UAB Family Medicine

The speed and accuracy stand out, particularly how it assigns information to the correct diagnoses. The assessment language sounds natural and closely matches how I would write, with clearer phrasing than other products.

Jody Gilstrap, M.D.
UAB Medical West Family Medicine

Suki improves the speed and thoroughness of history and documentation compared to dictation. While there is a learning curve with workflow, it continues to improve with use.

Andrew Land, M.D.
UAB Internal Medicine

The rapid turnaround makes notes quickly available for other providers and pre-certs, and it’s helpful to sign while details are still fresh. The accuracy is excellent, especially with small but meaningful details, and it outperforms other tools I’ve used.

Tracy Luckhardt, M.D.
UAB Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine

Suki is great! Even with my complicated ILD patients, it does a nice job.

Shivani Malhotra, M.D.
UAB Huntsville Family Medicine

Suki has been such a huge help in my day. It catches the visit, builds the note, and frees me up to actually connect with my patients. I’m finishing charts faster and feeling way less wiped out. Total game changer!!!

Frequently asked questions

REMINDER: For telehealth visits with Suki, please remember to include the required disclaimer about telehealth consent, location, and privacy.

Patient Search and Scheduling

I can’t find a patient using a comma between last name and first name.

Remove the comma or search using first name then last name. Any patient on a clinic schedule will be searchable.

I work off a generic (faux) schedule not assigned to me. How can I find my patients?

Search by patient name or MRN, enter the patient manually, or start Ambient recording and add the patient later to copy/paste into your EMR.

I can’t see a patient on my schedule who was worked in today. What should I do?

Schedules upload twice daily (6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). You can manually enter the patient or start recording and add them later.

Consent and Compliance

Is the consent statement required for each visit?

Yes. Verbal consent must be obtained and documented for every visit. This may be done by the provider or staff.

What if my patient doesn’t consent to the recording?

You may dictate the entire note in Suki after the visit or document the visit as you did prior to using Suki.

Is Suki secure with protected health information?

Yes. Suki is HIPAA-compliant and has been approved by the UAB Information Security team.

Note Creation and Templates

Can I personalize Suki templates for my notes?

Yes. In settings, you can customize note types, scripts, personalization, and speech settings. Notes may be bulleted, narrative, or both.

I like my current EMR template. Can I copy parts of the Suki note?

Yes. You can copy individual sections or the entire note into your EMR.

Can I dictate before or after the visit?

Yes, Suki will incorporate content in Suki prior to the ambient session. Anything dictated after the visit will be appended rather than incorporated.

Can I add new information later?

Yes. Additional recordings made later in the day will be added to the note – just go back to the original and click Start Ambient.

Do I need to address the diagnosis codes that appear at the end of the recording?

No. These are educational only and should be addressed directly in your EMR.

For a scribed visit, do I need to change what I say?

Use best practices; verbalize laterality, exam findings, diagnoses, and plans during the visit. This improves note accuracy and patient satisfaction.

Can I see the full transcription of the visit?

Yes. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the note to view the full transcript.

Can I dictate part of the note and then record the rest?

Yes, Suki will seamlessly incorporate dictation prior to or after the visit.

Recording and Audio Use

Do I need Wi-Fi to record visits?

You can use Suki without Wi-Fi (i.e. using cellular data), but if Suki encounters network instability, it will record locally and upload the content once sufficient network conditions are restored. Wi-Fi is recommended for consistent performance.

Can I use my laptop’s microphone instead of my phone?

Yes, as long as it captures all speakers clearly.

Can I use a tap-and-go exam room microphone plugged into the computer?

No. These are not reliable for tap-and-go environments. Use your phone instead.

What happens if I get a call or text while recording?

The recording continues as long as another app does not take control of the microphone.

Can I pause the recording during a visit?

Yes. Use the Pause button for sensitive discussions or if you leave the room.

Will using Suki drain my phone battery?

As with any mobile app, continuous use will affect battery charge. Providers currently report minimal impact on battery life, but if you anticipate using Suki for extended periods, charging between sessions (or during with a portable charger) is recommended.

How long are recordings saved?

The audio recording and corresponding transcript of the recording are stored for 30 days for support purposes and then deleted.

Eligibility and Access

I can’t log in, what should I do?

Complete the UAB Account Provision form to verify your account status. You should have access within 24 hours if authorization guidelines are met.

I am not a physician or APP. Can I use Suki?

Currently, access is limited to physicians and APPs. Non-providers may use Doximity AI Scribe, the only other UAB-approved solution.

I am a community provider not employed by UAB. Can I use Suki?

You will have access once your hospital goes live with Epic. The current copy/paste version is limited to employed UAB providers.

Is Suki available to residents and fellows?

This will be at the discretion of your program. March 1 will be the first day that residents will be eligible to sign up for Suki. Check with your director.

Can I use Suki for inpatient notes?

Yes, as long as you obtain verbal consent from the patient.

Epic Integration

How will Suki change with Epic integration?

Suki will integrate directly into Epic Hyperspace, eliminating copying/pasting and pre-populating diagnoses and orders.
