Can you briefly describe the goals and tasks of your Epic Workgroup?

The Epic Inpatient Pharmacy and Willow Inventory workgroups focus on preparing pharmacy operations for Epic go-live by supporting the full medication use process – from ordering and preparation to delivery, administration, and documentation. Their work includes validating pharmacy workflows, supporting medication build and inventory processes, and partnering with Epic and leaders across departments and sites to ensure that system design aligns with frontline operations and supports safe, efficient, and scalable practice.

What is one accomplishment that you are especially proud of?

I am especially proud of the work we are doing to build a system that genuinely supports frontline staff. We are creating a robust platform that provides easy, real-time access to information, so that our teams can make confident, informed decisions for patient care. What excites me most is knowing that this platform helps reduce manual and repetitive tasks, allowing our teams to spend less time on busy work and more time on patient care activities that matter most to them and our patients.

Before your current role, what was your most unusual or interesting job?

My most unusual job was in college, when I worked as a paintball referee. It was a lot of fun, although it could be painful at times, when players had questionable aim.

Why are you excited about our Epic Journey?

I am excited about our journey to Epic because it represents a long-awaited shift in how we access and use data to support hospital operations and patient care. One of the things I am most excited about is Epic’s robust reporting environment. The amount of information available is vast, and the ability to turn that information into usable data in minutes rather than weeks is a significant change for our teams.
