Provider-led classroom training for the Epic Journey will be more efficient, relevant, and effective if delivered by colleagues who speak the language and know the system. Learn what is required to become a trainer and the essential time commitment.

Why become a specialty trainer?

Participation will help make you an expert in Epic, expand your service portfolio, and raise your departmental leadership profile.

What is the time commitment for a specialty trainer?

The pre-training and classes will be held 4-6 weeks prior to the Epic go-live date and will require a total of 40-50 hours of your time through that period. The role will be compensated with an hourly rate.

Pre-training

  • View core e-learning modules and complete an assessment (2 hours)
  • Attend on-site, specialty-specific training (4-8 hours)
  • Complete run-throughs and practice on your own (6-8 hours)

Training classes

  • Co-lead a minimum of five classes comprising of 8-10 providers
  • Work alongside a credentialed trainer and clinical informatics expert on leading workflow demos and presenting specialty scenarios
  • Trainings will focus on most-used tools
  • Assist lab sessions that focus on personalized user settings (2 hours)
