What’s your current job role, and how long have you been in this position?
I currently serve as the director of program planning & performance improvement within the cancer service line. In this role, I lead our accreditation efforts, oversee our quality program, and guide analytics initiatives that help us continually improve how we deliver care.
Can you briefly describe the goals and tasks of your Epic Workgroup?
Our workgroup is focused on creating a more streamlined, connected experience for cancer care across all disciplines. Through Beacon and other supporting platforms, we aim to improve the timeliness and quality of documentation, reduce redundancies, and make workflows more intuitive for staff. We also are working to strengthen communication, especially when it comes to accessing outside records, so that, ultimately, our EHR truly supports and enhances the incredible work our care teams already are doing for patients.
What’s one accomplishment that you are especially proud of?
Without hesitation, OUR TEAM! It’s hard to overstate how exceptional this group is. Watching our providers, nurses, pharmacists, clinical informatics teams, data developers, administrators, and Epic partners come together has been incredibly inspiring. The level of collaboration, dedication, and shared purpose has been remarkable. There’s a real sense of excitement about what we’re building, and a collective commitment to creating the best possible system for our teams and patients.
Before your current role, what was your most unusual or interesting job?
One of my most memorable jobs was working in a small bakery throughout high school. I loved learning how to make and bake a variety of products, and it gave me an appreciation for both creativity and precision. Plus, it didn’t hurt being surrounded by fresh pastries every day.
Why are you excited about our Epic Journey?
I’m most excited about the opportunity to simplify and streamline how we work. Epic allows us to break down silos, improve transparency, and strengthen communication across departments and locations. It’s a chance to build more cohesive, efficient processes that ultimately make a meaningful difference in both the care we provide and the experience of the teams delivering it.
What’s your favorite place to visit or go on vacation?
One of my favorite places I’ve visited is San Sebastian. It’s a stunning coastal city in Spain’s Basque country, surrounded by green mountains and beautiful sandy beaches. The combination of vibrant culture, charming cobblestone streets, and incredible cuisine makes it truly unforgettable.
What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
There are so many places I’d love to visit, but at the top of my list right now are Argentina, Switzerland, and Scotland – each for its unique landscapes, cultures, and experiences.
What’s a fun fact that not many people know about you?
Although my last name may give it away, I was born and raised in Albania. I’ve always had a deep love for languages, and I actually learned Spanish by watching Spanish telenovelas!
