What is your current job role, and how long have you been in this position?

I serve as director of Outpatient Rehab and Community Partnerships at UAB Medicine. I’ve been in that role for eight years.

Can you briefly describe the goals and tasks of your Workgroup for Epic?

We design Rehab Services workflows and documentations across the continuum and enterprise, including acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient settings.

What is one accomplishment you are especially proud of?

I’m incredibly proud of the workgroup members and how everyone has been inclusive for all the entities. For example, during work sessions, staff from UAB St. Vincent’s, UAB Medicine, and UAB Medical West call on each other to express concerns or ideas. It has been incredible to see people who didn’t know each other a year ago come together for a common goal.

Before working in your current role, what was your most unusual or interesting job?

While in college, I worked at a high adventure camp in New Mexico and lived in a tent for three months. I love the outdoors and sometimes miss that simple life.

Why are you excited about our journey to Epic?

There’s a lot to be excited about! Overall, I am excited about the Epic tools that will improve workflow efficiencies.

What’s your favorite meal you’ve had on a trip?

In St. Petersburg, Russia, I had a coffee bean crusted steak. It was incredible. That was almost 20 years ago, but I can still taste it!

What’s your favorite TV show or movie?

That’s easy: Longmire!

What’s your favorite quote to live by?

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our happiness.” –Viktor Frankl (exact source disputed)
